Roland-Garros, a dream came true!

For those who followed it on my Instagram account,

On Tuesday 31 May 2022, I achieved what was the second biggest goal of my year, and definitely one of my life goals, to go to the French Open and to be very precise: to to see Rafael Nadal play at the French Open.

Why? Where does it come from?

For those of you who don't know and who are discovering me through this article, I love tennis enormously and I am a big fan of the player Rafael Nadal. I literally grew up with him because when I started following him, it was in 2005, the year of his first Grand Slam and we are in 2022... 17 years is a long time.

So I was able to follow his career closely, his adventures, celebrate his victories and mourn his defeats (in the literal sense of the term).

In March 2011, as a 16 year old I got to meet him and see him play for the first time, but that's not the point. One of my goals as mentioned earlier, was to see him play at the French Open.

Why this particular tournament?

Simply because It is the most important tournament of his career, the one he has won 14 times. His tournament, his garden and it was important for me to see him perform there before the end of his career.

As I am more and more aware of the end of my career, the idea of going to the French Open was in the top 3 of my 2022 objectives.

A great adventure, with no guarantee of seeing him to be honest. I arrived in Paris for the quarter-finals but what guarantee did I have that he would make the quarter-finals? Knowing that the tournament before the French Open, he didn't get past the first round...

Anyway, armed with madness and hope, I landed in Paris on Monday 30 May, and the next day I was able to go to the Roland Garros stadium. It was a memorable and incredible day where I was able to watch several matches and see legends that I used to see behind the TV screen as a child.

A day that ended with Rafael Nadal's match and victory, an i-n-o-u-b-l-i-a-b-l-e moment on the famous Philippe Chatrier court.

Based on my adventure at the French Open, I could write a whole article encouraging you to reach your goals, to persevere and to be determined. But I'll hold back...

However, remember this:

If you want it, you can do it!

With love,

The Christianista
